Ieva Veipa
Ieva inspires those around her daily with her energy, zest for life, and inexhaustible desire to help. Under her leadership, countless RSU SU events have been conjured, making the memories of many people's student years much more vibrant and bright, the kind you want to remember with a smile on your face. She is not only responsible and punctual in organizing projects but also kind-hearted and understanding. You can always turn to her for advice, regardless of the complexity or field of the question, and rely on her to drive you home after any event with powerful karaoke party. Her rich experience at RSU SU inspires both those at the very beginning of their journey and those who have been active in Student Union for a long time to strive for ever higher peaks.
She makes you believe that with enthusiasm, humanity, and determination, you can achieve anything. Ieva is a person who creates a sense of security and acceptance in everyone, thus encouraging others to be active, friendly, and constantly learn and gain experience for future SU and life adventures. Her presence motivates you not to give up, to think creatively, and to be the best version of yourself. Ieva is a true Inspiration of the Year – a person who ignites about things important to her and ignites others along with herself.
Alise Luīze Bērziņa
Alise is an amazing person with unprecedented energy and a broad heart. Sometimes it feels like Alise, unlike everyone else, has more than 24 hours in a day. Over the past year, she magically managed to both master her studies, enthusiastically lead the Student Union, taking care and paying attention to each board member every day, and regularly attend folk dance rehearsals and concerts. She is living proof that anything is possible if you truly want it and are willing to invest in making it happen. With her example, kindness, and warm smile, she instills in her peers the desire to become better, more genuine to themselves and others, and to strive towards their dreams.
Working with Alise is a pure joy. She not only takes care of fulfilling her core responsibilities but is always ready to lend a helping hand to others, even when she is overwhelmed with work herself. Moreover, you can always be sure that Alise will keep her word and help as much as she can. Alise has the magical ability to find the right words to encourage, support, and even make you laugh in a difficult moment. She is a true embodiment of inspiration, energy, and sincerity, which is why Alise's shelf would be perfectly complemented by the RSU SP Inspiration of the Year award!
Simulation competition "Medical wrestle"
Medical students had long deserved student-organized, international simulation competitions where teams from all over Europe would compete in resuscitation skills, knowledge, and teamwork. In 2025, this dream became a reality – within the framework of RSU ISC 2025, the first "Medical Wrestle" event was successfully held, organized by students Rihards Seržāns and Aleksandrs Oborins.
With the support of the RSU Department of Anesthesiology, Reanimatology, and Clinical Simulations, the participation of a guest mentor from France, sponsor support, and MITC technical support, the event gathered 10 strong student teams from RSU, LU, Estonia, and Poland. During the competition, 24 dynamic simulation situations were played out, evaluated by 10 experienced doctors-instructors. In the final stage, participants were greeted by a wrestling ring, where an evening was held with exciting lighting and music, awarding valuable prizes to the winners, which could be applied both in studies and clinical practice.
"Medical Wrestle" not only started a new tradition but also created an environment where future doctors can prove themselves and inspire others. It was the first step towards a bigger dream – a regular international simulation competition platform for medical students.
Laura Sabīne Taurmane
Laura shone very brightly in the RSU SU environment, managing in less than a year to both lead the Student Scientific group and become a councilor of Faculty of Dentistry, but most importantly – to become the project manager of ISC 2025 last summer. In recent months, Laura has practically lived at the university, running to dentistry classes in the mornings, then to hospitals for her medical studies, and in the evenings becoming the center of attention for the RSU security guards, staying until midnight to plan the conference. Laura's inexhaustible energy has inspired many students. As a project manager, she has proven to everyone in the SU that any student can organize something big if they have the desire and their own vision. Under Laura's leadership, ISC reached unprecedented scales this year, while dentistry students have had a councilor for a year who fights to the end for every student. A true ray of light that has ignited courage and self-belief in those around her.
